How feather edge fencing is built

Closeboard fencing uses vertical feather edge boards fixed to horizontal rails between posts. Each board overlaps the next, giving an enclosed timber face without relying on a thin prefabricated panel frame.

Featheredge is another spelling of the same board style, not a separate product. Site-built closeboard lets us adjust the run to your Ascot boundary, and individual damaged boards can later be replaced without taking down the entire section.

A fence that follows your boundary

Where a garden changes level, a made-on-site fence can follow the ground more closely than standard panels. We check the route, exposure and post positions before recommending the height and construction.

Timber or concrete posts are chosen to suit the site. Gravel boards keep the fence boards away from wet soil, and a capping rail can protect the top edge. Roots and access on wooded plots need checking before post holes are planned.

Privacy and future maintenance

A solid feather edge boundary suits an Ascot garden where privacy from a neighbouring path or property matters. The consistent timber finish works alongside both established planting and newer landscaping.

Keep vegetation clear, check loose fixings and treat the timber as appropriate for the product. At the free site visit we explain post options, finishing details and what is included in your written quote.

Closeboard fencing is built on site from vertical feather edge boards fixed to horizontal arris rails between posts. Because it is constructed board by board rather than dropped in as a panel, it is considerably stronger than standard panel fencing.
